Your task is to create a "found poem." A found poem is an unintentional poem discovered in a non-poetic context such as a conversation, a film, an article, etc. Found poems serve as reminders that everyday language often contains what can be considered poetry, or that poetry is definable as any text read as a poem.
THE ASSIGNMENT: You are to develop a found poem which has the following required elements: - at least 25 lines - use only words and phrases from The Last Days and Maus - revolve around a central theme word
You will also turn in a rationale for your poem. Describe the theme you hope to convey in placing these words and phrases together. For example, if it is about hope, what does your poem say about hope? If it is about despair, what message is said about despair? Why did you choose to revolve your poem around this theme? Why were those specific words/phrases chosen? In essence, your rationale explains your thinking behind your poem.
As always, your homework should be completed before you come to class. Therefore, your block's page will be locked on the due date before the start of class. Anyone who needs more time must see me.
If your poem is on time but are unable to post your poem, please print it out and bring it to class.
